david88 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 hey guys, my buddy and i just caught a 'just legal' king in botany bay. it has some dark spots down one side and on its tail like some sort of disease... is it safe to eat? im hungry and i dont know if i should eat it or not? also is it safe to sashimi? thanks for the help.
LittleNoah Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 No idea about the spots, but, "if in doubt, throw it out" 1 feed of fish isn't worth getting sick over.

Gotta agree with that, if I was you and caught an obviously diseased kingfish with brown spots and no doubt a bad odour near the tail fin after having a subtle sniff, I wouldn't be bringing it home that's for sure, in fact if eaten as a sushimi it could even carry an undiscovered form of mortuous underarm excrusiosa and excruciating soccodaemia betwixt the cheeks, in fact I wouldn't hesitate not to even gargle the eyes down with a middy of scotch. Cheers jewgaffer

tide'n'knots Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Are you sure its a kingie and not a samson fish??? They look a little similar and have brown motely markings. Pete.
huntman Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 post up a photo. It should be fine to eat, but there is no way to be sure unless we can see what you are talking about.
