Vhf Radio Problem

Had a problem with my Vhf radio today.

Recption was fine, could hear boats and coastal patrol.

I tried nummerous times to contact coastal patrol and coast guard to no avail.

It appears that the radio is receiving, but not transmitting.

Just wondering if others have had the same or a similar problem that they were able to fix to point me in the right direction of what to possibly to look for when i open the hand set and body.

Transmitting is the hand set itself,Brett.

Borrow someone elses and see if that fixes the problem.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I EVEN POSTED A FORUM SIMILAR TO YOURS ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO, I GOT ALL SORTS OF ANSWERS FROM THE HANDPIECE IS STUFFED TO A BROKEN AERIAL TO WRONG BRAND OF RADIO... FIRST CHECK THAT THE UNIT IS SWITCHED ON HI FREQUENCY NOT LOW FREQUENCY, OTHERWEISE PAY THE FEE USUALLY AROUND $80 AND HAVE THE UNIT CHECKED BY A DEALER, IT WILL SAVE YOU LOTS OSF STUFFING AROUND.... ALSO LOOK AT THE REPLIES TO MY FORUM ITS CALLED VHF RADIO PROBLEMS

Had the same issue. Small bit of corrosion on the connection between the mic and the lead. $80 fee and it's all sorted. They actually test your radio there to make sure it isn't a aerial issue.

Thanks for the advice.

I opened it up and there was no obvious signs of corosion or a loose connection, the TX light comes on when trying to transmit.

Ill take it to a dealer and get it checked over.
