Started 10pm last night at Hawkesbury hoping for a night Jew but water was so dirty only eels and catfish were bitting :1onono: . So after an hour we went out further out around pass Juno Point to get some livies for next morning high tide hoping to get that Jew. But same thing, EELS AND CATFISH with a couple of Port Jackson sharks :ranting2: in the package all the way till the morning.

So we got sick of it and decided to move inside Cowan Creek and hoping to take home some decent fish. We then anchored to a spot that wasnt busy in water traffic and casted my squidgy and wack, no sp tail. Rigged up another one and the same thing no tail on my sp. So Ive rigged up my lightest coloured VX35 and then got a decent sized tailor. Then another tailor but a bit smaller.

Then my cousin lowered the pilchard tail and waited and whammm!!!! We thought it was a bigger tailor but it peeled line like the drag on his Abu 804 wasnt working until he got it to the surface and saw a frigate mac at the end of the line. He was so stoked with his reel and is planning to buy the next size up for kingies asap. So all day we started casting slugs with another 4 boated and lost possibly around 8 of them. All in all it was a top day and at least my mrs and my cousin`s wife would be happy of what we brought home.

good report.

how are the mackerel on the tooth?

They are ok on the chew as long as you cook them asap. I cook them with coconut milk and they taste good.

Nice work mate, tailor are always there in cowan if you need them, good to see the macs getting in there too.

Whats that outfit you've got? Is it the saltwater series or luvias rod?

Cheers

Well done Wannafish!.... You certainly turned a poor session into a busy one by giving the main river a miss and looking for the less affected spots in Cowan.......... The rain at the end of the week and the three inches that fell around Mooney Mooney and Brooklyn apparantly spread dirty water throughout the main river water column...........

Often people dont bother to go fishing or cancel out after looking at at the colour of a river after heavy rain and miss out on the benefit of it, whereas they should still give muddy water a go here and there and if they only strike eels and catfish when fishing the Hawkesbury main flow, they should move into Pittwater and Cowan and look out for deepwater pockets where there is good water under muddy water, as there can often be a lot of fish concentrated in these types of areas feeding under the debris......These pockets are places where fish congregate in numbers after heavy rain and are havens for predators...... Looking at your good results with frigates etc in Cowan, these areas are not only havens for predators but also havens for good fishermen who think likewise.

Cheers

Nice catch of frigates there, they give a good fight on light gear and are pretty tasty pan fried with some soy sauce and butter.

Got the Saltwater w/ certate hyper 3500 jdm. Its was an overkill for those frigates but I was happy I used this one at first as 2 of those frigates fought dirty like going under the boat and trying to rub my braid and my rod was halfway underwater. Lucky theres plenty of grunt on the butt end of the rod as it only flexed where it supposed to be. I also used a bassday popper (tnx gregl)for bream to tease these macs on my sol bream gear while my cousin chuck slugs at them.
