Penguin Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi every1, A couple of mates and I fished the bay on Friday in search of a feed of table fish. We found it hard going and we tried half a dozen different spots. At most spots we encountered Salmon they were fun but not what we really wanted, kept 4 and released 8. One Sambo already had 2 hooks in him, 1 in the side of his mouth, and 1 in his belly, both hooks had about a foot of braid attached to them, obviously hes busted a couple of fishos off, but he was no match for the 5.5kg mono I was using though. We also caught a couple of Beam, a Flatty and a few Trevs (33-42cm). At the Bare Island Bommie I tried one of those Shimano Lucunis Octopus jigs, I got heaps of hits on it, but only managed to catch some of those red, spiny, big mouthed fish wateva they are called, let them all go. Saw lots of baitfish in the bay also but no predators hitting them penguin heres a pic
