Ray R Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) G'day Raiders, I was around the rocks fairly early this morning, I was throwing out wide with squid strips and caught one of nearly everything in the ocean, caught one of each of these tarwine shovelnose salmon a reddie I was tempted to keep only 34cms so I put him back a stingaree and a flattie all the went back , kept me busy though and it was a nice morning. Came home and scoffed down a few salad sangas a big mug of orange juice, fell asleep on the lounge for 15 mins or so, got into the shower, dried off, fresh fishing clobber on and back around the rocks I went. Did some squid spinning and only got one, dodge quite a few swells and decided to see how some guys I knew further around the platform. They didn't have much luck with the tuna or bonnies, so I thought I would chuck on a small number 8 long shank hook, a swivel being my only weight and a few strands of stringy green stuff well there were some luderick there and I got a couple , this is a first for me , seen it done before but I had never tried it and I was stoked, they fought hard on the rack raider with my little stradic. Well that was my day, got home before the storms and ripped the top off o couple of cascades, a day of ones and a first.. Cheers.. Edited March 15, 2009 by Ray R
luderick59 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 hi ray thats a fun way to catch blackies try some cabbage instead of weed with the least amount of lead into the wash and berley with a handfull cabbage after each fish caught to keep them biting those little reds are nice and sweet nice going peter

arpie Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) Hhhhhm I could have sworn I put a reply up last night ..... must have hit the wrong button!! Terrific looking blackies there, Ray - that bottom one sure is fat!!! Hope you kept them for a feed. Yummy smoked! You really did get a league of nations in your earlier session!! Great pics, too Cheerio Roberta hahaha you had me going there!!! Here is my original reply! Yaaay!! Another convert to the Dark Side ....... blackie fishing! Sounds like a real mixed bag there to start off with, Ray - all part of the fun, eh? Watch out tho - blackie fishing is very addictive once you get into it! Can't wait to get back into it after next weekend! Have to stick with flatties, bream & whiting till then! What size did they go? Well worth just lopping their heads off, gutting them & smoking them! Yum! Cheerio for now & congrats on your first 'targetted' blackies! Wait till you get a 40+! They really 'GO'!! Roberta Edited March 15, 2009 by Roberta
james7 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hi Ray Great mixed bag of sea creatures you hooked there. Amazing diversity! Great blackies too! As for that storm shot. It is sensational! ... just an incredible photo! You certainly know how to handle a camera, as well as putting yourself in the right place at the right time. I always look forward to reading (and looking at) your reports. Thanks Ray. Cheers Peter
