Grimo Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi all does anybody own our know anything about mercury outboards. They are four stroke supercharged
a boat Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi, what in particular did you want to know. Yes the bigger Merc 4-Strokes are supercahrged and by doing this Merc have made a 4-Stroke outboard that perform quite well with good low down torque, but they are a complicated bit of machinery and dear. The I-4 are good outboards, but if the boat and wallet can handle the I-6 they with the floating transom brackets are nice engines. Post what interests you and I am sure you get opinions on Mercs, Cheers, Huey.

I dont know a lot about outboards, and ive had so many problems with my yamaha 2 strokes. Which still dont run right. 4 out of 4 of the last fishing trips have ended at the ramp. I was just wondering how they stack up against honda, or the new yamaha 4strokes.. and if anybody owns one of them and there thoughts.. Cheers grimo
Flightmanager Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Great engines , very powerful , but very noisy at WOT. Ross
a boat Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hi Grimo, if I was to buy a 4-Stroke outboard the Verdao would be the top of my list and that is why we chose to sell them. All 4-Strokes are very similar and to really say one is better than the other can come down to the selling dealer. What Merc have done with Verado is made a 4-Stroke that performs well by supercharging them and with DTS they offer some cool features. The Honda and Yamaha (not sure what you mean by new Yamahas-the 150HP is not a new design) are good engines too but they do not offer the grunt of the Verado. If you trust the selling dealer and the price is right you would not be unhappy with the 150HP Verados. PM me if you would like the Raider price on a set of engines. Cheers, Huey.
