hi guys,

got to spend some quality fishing time with 2 good mates and hit one of the nth beaches for a dusk till midnight high jew session...

as the last few sessions ive had have resulted in some good shark action i made sure we were prepared with plenty of bait options... and one of my mates surely meant business as he came loaded with a heap of live worms as well as fesh/frozen squid/fish etc...

sussed out 2 spots then settled for first one due to another fisho at the better spot already...

we had the beach to ourselves and we deployed a selection of baits along the hole/gutter..

soon after that storm hit but i knew it would pass quick and 10 min later all was good...

the action was fairly consistent with an assortment of rays and sharks landed..

i scored the biggest bloody fiddler ray/shark 10.5kg, i checked how big they supposed to get and this one was over the 1.2mtres so no wonder it was a surprise...

got a couple others just like him but not quite as big...

my mate got a small shark and as things were not looking good for a take home fish he was quickly bled for a feed...mmmmm...flake.....

i tried the shallow spot for bream but it was very quiet and got 2 sharks on my bream patternoster rig with 1/0 hooks....

i have seen a few guys saying they cannot get a bite from the beaches so thought i would post this to show you can have fun even when the target species(jew) doesnt read the script...

putting out some fish slab baits like mullet/tunas etc right on dusk/dawn and you should be in with a good chance of action, especially during the warmer months...

sharks/rays i caught were on mullet/garfish/squid/pike and banana prawn...

a fun time was had by all and spending time with mates like this was especially needed for me...

thanks for the great night.....

heres a few pics my mate took.....

cheers...steve....

Hi Steve

Shame the jewies didn't come out to play - but the fiddler ray would have given you a similar sort of workout, I reckon! :1yikes: THat was a BIGGIE!!!

Better luck next time

It's the way it goes Steve, you hit a beach feeling good, do everything you have to do, and the day itself rewards you with nothing but a variety of unemployed cartoon characters.

Cheers

hi roberta,

yeh we had fun with the consistent action but unfortunately no jewies or bream...

i was real surprised with the size of that fiddler and it was really a struggle in the surf surges...

i am kicking myself that i didnt get a proper measure but was more concerned with getting quick pic and swimming it away as they are a pretty ray and was prob pretty traumatic for her/him.......

better to be hooking ooglies than not gettin bites i recon...

byron, you crack me up sometimes with your humour :074::074:

they certainly could be on the books with hanna barbarra and co thats for sure...

along with wobbly wobbly and big boxhead(captain of the port j)

would give jabba jaws a run for his money... :074::074:

i really wanted to give the dusk a go then hang around for the tide change late that night with some male bonding stuff in between but the constant oogly action meant we were pretty busy on the rods.....

good luck tomorrow mate...

cheers...steve......

What a great way to spend a few hours with a couple of mates. Sounds like you all had a top time with plenty of action.

That's a monster fiddler Steve! Must have given you a bit of a workout.

What did your mate think of the shark? Taste okay? I assume it was a gummy?

Cheers

Peter
