Ray R Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 G'day Raiders, just got back from an arvo fish around the rocks, tried a wide out cast again looking for a reddie or two and ended up with a nice healthy dusky , it went 68cm's on the measure and will provide two big fat fillets for the hungry mob , got a few other hits out wide one of the hits smashed me chewed through my leader, it was probably a big tailor after inspecting what was left of my rig. Anyway it was just on sunset when the slimies came in so I spun up 6 and come home, they will be filleted and salted wrapped in newspaper for more bottom bashing baits On of the chaps I was fishing with took a couple of snaps of me with the flattie.. Thats it for now, gotta do some filleting now and then eat some dinner.. Cheers..
arpie Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Nice chunky flattie, Ray! Well done! Shame about the tailor! Nice to see the smile on your dial! CHeerio Roberta

tide'n'knots Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 nice flattie ray and top eating too! any reason why you wrap the slimy fillets in newspaper after you salt them, does it help to make a better bait some how? just asking because they make top jew baits when fresh but they are hard to keep in good condition if frozen. do you find that salting them affects there appeal at all? thanks pete.
jewgaffer Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Well done on the flathead RayR ... It doesn't come much better than that up there in the day time ! I'm still fasting from this morning's cancellation for tomorrow's operation and bugger it I am about to make a milo and chuck a meat pie in the micro wave and I hope I dont leak milo when they put the needles in Cheers mate thanks for you know what Byron
