Moro Mou
Hello Raiders, I have just returned from an o/s trip where i was lucky enough to get in a few days fly fishing in Sussex in the UK. On the Saturday we fished a place called Lakedown (created by Roger Daltrey) which is a series of river fed small lakes. We used a combination of different wet flies however success came with dark (black and olive) damsel nymphs. I ended up getting 4 fish for the day which the biggest being an 8lb 66cm model. Between the 4 of us we ended up with 15 fish with the biggest of the day being caught by my pommie mate which weighed in at 9.5 lb. On the Sunday with fished the Powdermill Reservoir which is managed by the Hastings Fly fishing Club. Both bank and boat fishing was available however we opted for the boats - rowing with 2 per boat. It was a crisp sunny day and we all had plenty of action. Most of the fish were taken on buzzers with red and black being the pick of the colours however damsel nymphs and woolly buggers were also successful. The fish averaged about 2 pounds but what they lacked in size they made up for with stamina. For anyone travelling to the UK and are keen to know more details of either fishery please feel free to PM me. A couple of pics.
slinkymalinky
Nice work Moru Mou, I'm guessing that being England, they don't call them brag mats... maybe something like 'Polite Enthusiasm Mats' Either way that's a cracking brace of trout old boy. Cheers, Slinky
