Penguin
Hi everyone, My mate George, my son and I fished the bay on Thurs, we started off at the oil wharf for not much at all other than a ton of Yellow tails, my son was catching them every minute or two. I tried live baiting a couple but they went untouched. After awhile we set off for our 2nd spot which wasn't the car park it was when we past it the 1st time around. We got the berley going and before we knew it we had Kings and Trevs of all sizes around our boat. The only problem was that the Kings were very shy of any bait that had a fishing line coming out of it. I would throw 3 or 4 pilly cubes in the water, one cube would have a hook in it, all the cubes would be devoured except the one that housed the hook, all this took place before our very eyes . If we let a bait sink out of sight we ended up getting Trevs. We tried Peeled Prawns, Pilly cubes, Squid, Chicken Breast and live Yakkason the Kings but they didn't wanna know. I then turfed my 5.5kg leader for 3.5kg leader and tried for a King again, still they didn't wana get to meet me. So then I try my smallest outfit, 3.5kg main line, I remove the leader and the swivel, and attach my hook straight to the line, and give this a go with a Prawn. And hey presto zzzzzzzzzzzzzz I'm on, after about 20 mins of trying to tire this fish, I finally get him boat side for the 4th time and George nets him, he was a healthy 72cm. We manage a few more underside rats and one more legal at 67cm. We left the Kings still on the chew as my son had footy practise.
