Leader For 4lb Berkely Trilene Sensation

Gday Raiders,

I have bought a couple of Strike Pro Rack Poppers and am setting up the light rod for use over winter, mainly landbased with the young one for bream, squid and the odd flatty.

I have spooled up with 4lb Berkely Trilene Sensation mono and wanted to know what rating leader to use?

Similar to other recent posts about leaders etc but I had to ask.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tan

Possibly a 8lb mininum flourocarbon as its more abrasive resistant and invinsible under water but nothings wrong with using normal mono as you will catch the same fish what the more expensive flourocarbon will catch.

Hi Tan

8lb sounds good or even less if you are in open water with out many snags - also don't have it too long either. Leaders for poppers could be quite short (about 1m) so the line isn't dragging on the water.

Cheerio

i use normal mono line when uesing poppers it seems to float better than flurocarbon

Thanks Mick - I'll be fishing around rocky areas and mussel encrusted pylons so I'm trying to keep as strong as possible yet light at the same time. In saying that, I have some Kokoda 9lb mono that would do the trick
