fishermandan123 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi, The tubes are just on the inside of the bay right near the lighthouse. Never heard of deivls elbow and cant find it on the map. Just be very careful of where you fish in the whole area around jervis bay as it is a marine park and there are lots of areas which fishing is banned in. You should research it out a bit before you go as you dont want to get fined. Maritime, waterways, fisheries all would have information or maps. I have a boat so i havn't done much rock fishing around there but callala bay and honeymoon bay is good for squid, tailor and salmon should be around all rocks now even luderick would too. Cheers Dan.
Kirks Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hey Mate Depending on what your fishing for I wouldn't recommend going to the tubes, it is a long walk to the ledge and it does not fish very well for species like tailor and salmon. Its more the HUGEEEEEEEEE kingfish, marlin and it use to be yellow fin. Theres is a beach that if you can get some live worms, its a great whiting fishing spot. Very light sinker, swivel, 10lb fluorocarbon, to a long shank hook. It will yield results. Cheers Steve

The Tubes!! Awsome spot. Inside the Bay but like deep sea fishing without the sea sickness. They even catch marlin there. From the shore!!! Check out Phil atkinsons "marlin from the rocks" video. I would highly recommend, first going there in daylight without fishing gear so that you know where you are going when you go there for a serious fishing trip. Unless you like head butting rocks and/or drowning at 4 am. The bad news is that you can only get in there on weekends and every day for about a month after Christmas. I have also heard a few horror stories about Navy "natzis" taking people out when the gates were open or even "confiscating" fishing gear. To get to the Tubes park in the lighthouse car park and look for a track on the Western side and follow it for about 20 minutes. It will pretty obvious when you find the Tubes. It's a long platform with the rusted remnants of some sort of huge canon/torpedo shaped thing at one end. If you haven't found the tubes you will just come across cliffs and mostly unfishable rocks. Have fun. I haven't been there for a few years now but I am assuming the details should still be the same. Reeltired
On Strike Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 G'Day, There are a number of ledges around JB for spinning and the like. The tubes is good but crowded. Try Mermaids inlet or eves ravine at Currarong and even the rocks near the wreck ( Just around from Currarong township ). Mermaids track is about a twenty minute walk and a safe ledge to fish with heaps of room. Eves is out past the water tank at the back of Currarong. A bit hairy getting down especially if your not good with heights. Devils Elbow is on the southern side of the bay. You get to it by parking in the Murrays Beach carpark and walking south. Its a bit of a difficult spot to fish because of the angle of the ledge and the small amount of room. There is a ledge back towards Murrays which is much easier to fish ( Just inside Bowen Island. ) But if your looking for safe spot with plenty of room them my pick would be Mermaids. Ive caught Bonnies, kingys, small tuna, tailor, salmon and snapper there. Hope this helps. On Strike.
f1sh3rm4n Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 thanks for the info raiders, hopefully in a few weeks time when me and my mates dont have soccer on we can head down that way and hopefully come back with a few fishy tales cheers f1sh3rm4n
