G'day Raiders,

First time poster, long time reader. Went Shore based fishing with Family around Dolls today. Action was slow, managed to get one legal flounder, lots of undersize Bream all thrown back into the wash. Lot's of small tugs on the line, nothing solid... The strong Wind created havoc, and the chill factor got us home nice and early...

Just wondering if the strong wind causes the fish to go off the bite in this area, Was there for three hours, two before and one after high tide. Tried all sorts of Fresh bait, and Jerk Shads, none did the trick.

Any tricks when fishing in this area ?

Oh well, atleast we didn't come home empty handed.... :)

Cheers

Thanks John,

Reading from all the search results, there's supposed to be some big lizards there. Japanese dude, next to me was using fresh bait, did not get a nibble in three hours.

Must be the gale force winds, or this area fishes better at a outgoing tide... ?

Cheers,

Cartman

hi cartman

iv been fishing at dolls for the past 15 years i have found it to be best fishing about half hour before the peak of the tide, on the slack which was most productive and about half hour into the runout so all up little over an hour of solid fishing.

weather wise i have done best when its blowing a little not much good when calm and for bait i use peeled hawkesbury prawns caught nice bream, flathead and whiting

hope this helps

Thanks Jizzo,

15 Years...wow... B) . I just gotta keep tryin I think. Was using HR Prawns, followed by Yakka, then pilchards, the famous NC by Berkley, on a patternoster rig, 8lb mono main, with 12lb leader.

I'll Be Back ..... "Arnie" :D

after many experiments my final setup consisted of 9foot rods 4000 reels 10lb main line 12lb siglon trace, running size 6 or 7 ball sinker depending on wind conditions and a mix of size 4 and 2 mustad hooks in the red baitholder range.

this combo did the trick and havnt changed it for years.

cheers jizzo
