Hi guys,

I have a 6m Quinnie spirit and I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on a few decent fishing spots in the Sydney harbour area for this time of year. I dont want to go all the way out to the FAD but if anybody knows anywhere that's producing inside the harbour or just offshore towards long reef or down bondi way I'd love you to help me out. Im taking a friend out next week and neither of us have any idea where to go. Not sure what we'll target cos i dont know whats on at the moment somebody help me out pleassee ..

thanks guys,

Nice spot strait out from the heads aprox 3 kls out in the 50-60 mtr range the other week in a 2 mtr swell but managed to catch 1 snapper aprox 1kg, nice sweetlip 2kg, flathead 2kg and a hell of a toad fish, first time out their bottom must be rocky as most of our gear got snipped on the rocks all at once many times so will lose a lot of gear but will get a feed

Sure you weren't getting "snipped" by leather jackets? They are a bloody pest and if it was happening a lot more than likely it was them as opposed to the bottom. Usually you know when you get the bottom... i.e. it pulls back!

Yeah i thought of that and mates also commented so could well be, their were three lines in the water and all were as they were snipped above the leader all at once no tug of being snagged at all just a nick and nothing just couldn't justify three lines being eatin by leatherjackets within seconds and re rigged four times

so they got 12 8oz of lead from us

There's plenty of grounds of Sydney worth having ago ,a couple of grounds nice and close in that are always worth a try are a large area with a mixture of reef and rock directly 1km off north head which we pulled 2 nice Mowies ,2 keeper Reddies and a flying Gurnard all in the space of about 1/2- 3/4 of an hour before the jackets moved in on sunday :1badmood:

We also fish a spot a couple of km off Bluefish point which is quite a large area to work and managed to snare our first Pearl perch on sunday

Hope this points ya in the right direction mate

thanks guys i'll take those places into mind next time we head out, we canned the trip which was going to be this weekend due to unwanted weather conditions :1badmood:

does anybody know if it would be worth trolling for light game i.e dollies, stipies etc. i am interested in catching something exotic and love bringing in the light game fish. I wouldn't be suprised if there's nothing due to the season however if anybody has had experiences to suggest otherwise would they be able to point me in the right direction??

thanks heaps guys
