snapR Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Just curious, anyone into the blackies in the various harbour reaches yet? Cheers guys
kiwineil Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 my 5 yr old caught a bay (20cm) blackfish off n/bridge wharf last saturday - does that count ?
snapR Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 haha nice - it is a sign i suppose. They are cute little fellas aren't they at that size. Bet the little one woulda loved it. Hopefully big schools will start popping up. I know they are starting on the central coast, just that sometimes it's too far to drive.

jed38 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Evening all, A mate and I are keen for a fish for the blackies as the kids soccer has been canned for the weekend due to the rain. Anyone had a fish in the harbour lately???? Scored some weed during the week and need to turn it into a product worth eating!!! Any help much appreciated... Cheers Jed.
luderick -angler Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 they never do go off my father who was absolutely freakish a catchin grhm wouldget hem all year round in the harbour he knew every spot from the heads to putney! rare that he came home without netting a half dozen. He's passd on now but he did teach me a lot and one thing i can say is if you drive nad you can put a whole day in fish the wind and tides a classic is Abbotsford point on the run in then move to Birkenhead on the run out! When i lived in sydney we used to chase them around Pyrmont then to glebe nad even up to Chiswick, depending on water clarity you get them as far up as rydalmere. If the water is dirty try places like Green point watsons bay or Camp cove ledges btween Camp cove and Lady Jane very well protected in a southerly. Hope this helps also don't forget places like mosman Wharf where the wall is next to the Ferry Terminal, or the end o Darlin Island the old pier 13
