brendong
Any one use or used Stren Mirco Fuse....I've heard some great things about it.....particularly NO WINDY's!!! I'm currently using 4lb Crystal on my 2500 Fireblood and do get windy's flicking really light jig heads (1 -1.5g) and small poppers etc. Any feed back would be great..... Ray R
Hi Poddy, mate I have Stren Microfuse on 6 of my reels, 4, 6, 6, 12, 15 and 20lb, great stuff. The 2 6lb and 4lb shots of stren are on my stadics which cop a hammering cast wise, thousands of casts and no probs, and the 20lb is on my Daiwa TD Advantage which used for casting spinners off the rocks, it is a good braid.. Cheers...

Bream Mad
as far as i know it comes from the same company, thus 'may' well come from the same factory as fireline please guys if your getting into braid and worrying about windys i would suggest it choosing a large spool size and eliminating loose windings!! this is what causes them, sure fireline gets less windys because it is as stiff as wire, but it is realy coarse stuff. why not try sunline super PE in white or green it is cheap and IMO far better than that cheap fireline/stren stuff bm

shane87
As bream mad suggested ( windy's) are caused by small spooled reels being choked by small stripper guides on rods. If you are using a 1000 size reel then a size 20 stripper guide will do but 2000 or 2500 size reels require a 25 and at least 650mm-700mm from the reel seat too the first guide. Hence the reason a lot of loomis rods are being re-built these days as they are usually way out on guide spacings with stripper guides being as close as 550mm. Cheers Shane. Good rod advice Shane..... Pure gold mate!! .... Matching a rod to a reel doesn't come much better than getting advice from an experienced fisherman and rod maker like yourself. Looking at the sportiest rod off the rack and getting the best feel out of a combo, doesn't mean that the guide size and configuration of the rod automatically suits the particular reel or the reel a salesman might recommend.... It's a wonder that the makers of these lightweight and graphite rods don't recommend minumum and optimum reel sizes for each rod... A lot of fisherman seem to be undergunned with the rod part of the equation for the sake of feel with a good quality lightweight reel that doesn't match the rod and particularly the guide size which also causes twists with mono lines where fishermen tend to blame the particular brand.... Poddy Trapper I'm happy with 20lb and 30lb Fireline, but prefer to use the cheaper melaluka brand dyneema braid on lightweight gear because to me it does the job and lasts well... I had a large spool of regular 80lb Stren braid and have ordered another because of the price I can get compared to Power Pro and I don't really notice much difference between Stren and my Power Pro..... My more expensive Tuff line is a softer line and lays better than the others, feels solid and, because of the weave Tuff Line still looks good after regular use....
