MikeyR Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Hi, Wondered if anyone had any info on the Patonga Creek Entrance. Boat is a Quinnie 540 and am thinking of applying for a mooring in the creek so i can go up on the weekend (have a shack there) and through the boat in for the weekend, rather than pull each day. Wondered if it's accessable at high and low tide, know it's shallow, just not how shallow! Cheers Mike
Guest Big-Banana Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Never seen a boat bigger than 4m cross this, it's pretty much always breaking which indicates how shallow it is. It could be passable at the peak of high tide, but I wouldn't risk it with a 5.4m boat.
stoney Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Last october I spent the long weekend up there and we were in and out of the creek at all tides in a 5.4 meter quintrex bowrider. It does get very shallow but we found that if we took our time then it was fine. I don't know if it was a weekend of higher then normal tides though. But we had no dramas.
Ray R Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Yes it is doable in a boat that size on the right tide and with caution, however with the recent onslaught of wind, rain, huge seas and massive water movement I would consider giving the camp ground caretaker a call as he may be able to give you a good heads up on the mouth conditions... Cheers...
