Luke1 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Hey Fishraiders. i wouldn't mind starting to get into jigging. But firstly i need a rod and reel. The price range im looking for is around $350 max for the reel, and $400 for the Rod. Brand names dont bother me, but if it means better quality then thats a benefit. And i also would need some Braided line aswell, just wondering, how many pounds/kgs should i get for my braid. Thanks for the help. Luke1 Edited June 11, 2009 by Luke1
moses Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 saragosa 18000 for the reel and tcurve deep jig 400 for the rod and 80lb braid u will be able to use this setup for jigging for fin etc aswell
pjbink Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Are you looking to get an overhead or threadline outfit? 50lb braid is the most popular line for jigging for kings off Sydney. Edited June 11, 2009 by billfisher

youareck Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I am in to Jigging myself, Well for start up what kind of set up do you want to use e.g overhead or spin? I have 2 set up myself. I mean it's better to spend a bit more money on the good set up then buying a mid range set up then upgrade it later. 1. rod: Jigging Master Custom Rod 400g Reel: Accurate 665N With docking also T-bar handle Line:70lb YGK 2. Rod:Jigging Master Custom Rod 150g Reel: Accurate 870N with docking also T-bar handle Line: 20lb Powerpro some advise for you is that overhead it's much easier to get the fish up and useless power when you fight the fish, <400 rod you can find in the market it's the Tcurve Jig or even cheaper ones like Jig Wex , Monster Mesh they will do the trick as well. But reel you will want something that has power and can hold a lots of line if you want to jig in the deep. Around that price mark that you are talking about you have a few choice for spining reel CATALINA 6500 - it's got 30kg or drag it's more then you need to jig for a fish. Certate 3500HD - it's got heaps less line Capacity it's only good for jigging off sydney. Saltiga overhead - it's a little higher in price. Hope it helps
moses Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 if your going to spend the money on a reel then u should also buy a top notch rod i have just bought a hots rod which is amazing slow taper and bends from tip to butt right from the start but the price range is very high the saragosa has a fully sealed drag and alot of the jigging boats in perth are using the because of there price and dependability i think a certate would be nice but a bit small if u r not familiar with jigging catalina would do the job nicely withh a matching rod. another key point is dont be tight when buying braid not worth the dissapointment
moses Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 have a look at this site beautiful rods http://www.awpdistributions.com.au/product...s-fake-lez.aspx
