Hodgey
GDay folks A lot of you would have seen some of the fantastic photos on this thread: Searabbit's Mulwala shots and these are a couple of when I was there A mate of mine flew over it on Friday ... have a look at it now! It has been drained to 3%, in the hope that a lot of the weed that is choking it will die. Incredible to see the 'underwater channels' exposed like this Imagine the lures that could be retrieved now Cheers Hodgey
Ray R
Amazing Hodgey, all the fish from the entire area now restricted to the channels. Hope it works out okay and the powers that be have got it right.. Cheers...

glennmreid
Great couple of shots. Was wondering where all the water had gone. Thought for a minute that it was due to a drought. Hope the fish survive ok.
Hodgey
If you thought the aerial shots were sad, have a look at the ground level ones. The water line is clearly visible on the trees. The first photo is where we had our boats during the comp (scroll back up to second photo of this post) :
arpie
OMG!! That's incredible!! Never thought I'd see it like that Hodgey! That's almost a shocker! Gee, I'd be out there collecting lures in my waders ...... some of them are mine!! When will they open up the weir again? Roberta
humkyle
thats insane. looks like the aftermath of a nuclear bomb going off. Were than any signs of fish in the channels? cant imagine the tourism related economic loss
robleo
It's been done before and the fishing after was better than ever when refilled. Access to the area in the past was restricted ( read banned ) but not this time, all ramps out of the water and too much mud making access difficult. The locals and regulars there are keeping a close eye on the area. Also remember this lake is man made and before it the river used to rise and fall all the time. The weed they are trying to kill was choking the lake, making it impossible for boating and this method is better than poisioning which is very indiscriminate killing everything.
