tan the fisherman
Hi Cameron, The Penn 950 Spinfisher SSM Fishing Reel has a line capacity of 300 yards of 30lb fishing line and a gear ratio of 4.2:1. Its a strong reel whlooked aft. 30lb will be ok for the beach - I use a Shimano BTR 6500 with 30lb mono and use a leader of 50lb when beach fishing for small sharks - seems to work ok. jewgaffer
Good choice in the Penn 950 stinger...The 950 has a big spool and a powerful drag, so 30 lb Tortue or Ande mono will suit that reel alright off the rocks etc and even a good 80 lb dyneema braid with sufficient mono leader added but you would need to have a good quality rod that's suited to braid. Cheers jewgaffer
