toikle
Hello everyone, my second post here Recently I have been trying to get my first squid (weather permitting) but have had nil luck, I have yet to even see one. I am LB and have tried mostly around the little island at balmoral (there are heaps of boats there in the mornings which i assume catch squid). So my question is, what am I doing wrong? I am winding the reel as slow as I can, I have tried jigging it a little, prawn scent but nothing! Edited June 25, 2009 by toikle
zephi
One suggestion... do you know whether there are squid there in the first place? You maybe fishing in the right place where squid are found... but you just haven't located where they tend to congregate... I'm no pro, but I suggest you try your luck with some livebaits first. Throw out a live pillie, yakka or a gar... see if it gets hit by squid. If it comes back with chunks missing then you know there's squid in that area... They prefer fish over jig.... AND IF the squid are taking fish readily, then just throw out a few diff coloured jigs. I'm sure you know the basics anyway.
