luderick -angler
Hi all, finally got my a into hear and took a few shots of some trout either caught or in the water in my local rivers, the big brown on station tooka parachute adams but quickly busted me estimated to be a 6 - 7lb fish thats was on the Wainuiomata, the other fish in the next pic took a liking to my pheasant tail and run straight for some fencing in the river! What do you do when you need to fish 2lb fluoro in gin clear water to spooky fish! The last shot is of a small bow taken on a woolly bugger on dark on the Ruamahanga fast becoming a real good rainbow river and holds some massive sea run browns, so guys and gals if your in Welly and conditions are right give me a yell I have spare rods. BTW its never more than an hour and 15 mins to a real good river no 3 hour drives west here for trout action, if you do go 3 hours you hit the tuki tuki river in Hawkes Bay and does that have some mean fish in it! Cheers guys and keep at he blackies for me! Edited July 2, 2009 by luderick -angler

arpie
ooooh, nice brownie there, sitting in the current, LA!! Isn't it fun, spotting the fish in the rivers there? I tried enticing the odd brown around Nelson to take tiny sps when there 10 years ago! Good to hear you are getting out & about the rivers & getting into some nice fish! How much longer do you reckon you'll be over there? You'll have an accent by the time you come back! CHeerio Roberta
luderick -angler
Hopefully we will be back in October 2010, though when you have trophy trout waters 30mins from home and an extensive rainbow fishery an hour and 15 away well it will be hard to come home thought the nearest luderick is in Hawkes Bay and thats 3 plus hours! And summer only! go figure, that big brown he smoked me in less than a minute big powerful fish, oh well I'm off on Saturday to the Mangatainoka so hopefully more pics. Hows the fishing for the blackies they have had some huge runs in the last 5 years the last two brief visits i made i bagged out off th bondi rocks averaged 15 -20 fish in 3 to 4 hours back in March. Also just wondering if you knew my Dad passed on back in January. Cheers
arpie
So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, Royce. I hadn't heard. Next time I am out blackie fishing, I'll hook one for him. Hope to go looking for weed today. We've been hearing of huge blackie hauls up & down the coast, but not hearing of many being caught up here yet! I've been away 2 months fishing my way up to Northern Qld & down again! Lots of fun! Can't wait for them to 'go off' here again! Can't blame you for wanting to stay for the terrific trout action over there!! You should organise a 'social' for FRs over there whilst you are still there ..... then they would really know how terrific Trout FIshing can be!! I am jealous, very jealous!! I still have my 6mm neoprene waders from NZ They are so stiff, they can stand up by themselves!! Used to use them on the Tongariro & lake Tarawera! I looked like Michelin Man!
