ratbag
G'day gang.My self and a couple of mates and I went up to North Head on Sun.Hit the rocks about 9.30am the water was looking a bit dodgy. But we thought we'd give it a go anyway. We were fifhing for pigs and blackies. But water was makeing it very hard to fish.We ended up with 1 pig and 1 blackie.I got bricked buy a nice pig. But after 2 hours the swell was picking up. We decided that discretion was the better part of valour(I'm The eternal coward)and got out before it got worse. Jewdreamer
Well done on a Sensible decision. Too many "Brave" rockhoppers don't live to be grumpy old blokes , to pass on their skills to the younguns. Mate there is always another day, but its a bit hard to go fishin if you are dead! Better luck next time. Cheers Chris

southerly
Its no coincidence that most rock fishing fatalities are during a making swell, in such conditions rock fishing is just plain stupid. It's even pretty frightening to surf in a making swell as the wave behind is always bigger than the one that has just come through, you never know when it is going to go beyond your competence level.
