hopefully you guys can help me with this impending decision that will help me have more coin for important things like fishing gear..

the dilemma i have is i need to cut my phone bill down as its way too exe atm..

i need to find out what problems i am likely to have if i switch over from three to optus mobile...

i am looking at the $100 iphone deal and would also like opinions on going from my current nokia N95 to the iphone3gs 32g...

optus seem to have best deal with $100 no more to pay and this will save me a bundle let alone get a fancy pants iphone..

only drawback i see with iphone for me is only 3mp cam instead of my 5mp n95 which i use for my fishy pics and quicky of kids etc..

has anyone used both and can elaborate on real user differences...

please base answers on real usage and no flame wars about carriers as i believe they all are bad at times and luck is whats needed to be a happy camper, thats why they started a telco ombudsman???

thx guys....

cheers....steve...

the iphone cameras are pretty good, and there are apps that can increase the mp of the camera, also programs that are out, that can load the pictures to your comp and better quailty then itunes,

im on that timeless plan, i pay 119 which includes data

the only people i can call is 1300 numbers and international calls, they get charged at the normal rate,

so if you make alot of calls, this would be a good plan.

Haha I'm typing this on my iPhone. I'm with optus, I signed up 2 weeks ago at telechoice in burwood Westfield, their doing the 79$ plan for $69 a month. I got a 16gb 3gs with $640 normal credit and 640$ optus to optus credit, and a gig of data. I initially wanted a 32gb as I have a shitload of music and vids but I'm pretty happy to save a few hundred bucks and just change the music after a while. They threw in a case and chargertoo. I'm in no way affiliated with these guys I just shopped around for a while and they were the best. It did take them a few days longer than they promissed though to deliver the phone. It really is an amazing phone you'll love it.

Hi Steve,

I think Optus is also offering a $100 bonus on your bill if you sign up online rather than go into a store.

I also just signed up for the 3Gs 16 on the $79 plan (with a $10 discount each month). Add in the $100 bucks and I am laughing.

Can't wait to get the phone now. (will take about a week for delivery)

Cheers Sunnyboy1

I went with Virgin mobile who use the Optus Network. I went with a Nokia 5800 which is competing against the I Phone. The Nokia 5800 is a dual band phone, which is very important in regionals area, where the i Phone isn't dual band. I love the Nokia 5800. If you get the Nokia 5800, you get 1 years worth of free music downloads through the Nokia music site. Will save me a fortune in buying music. I've downloaded a ton of albums, singles etc
