This morning i hooked up the boat and headed down to the Georges river to have a go at the blackfish.

Went on a picnic with the wife yesterday at Bundeena and found some nice looking weed.

Pulled up at the spot we always catch them this time in the boat saved the bush walk in.Very slow going only boated 1 fish. I had my brand new Staro Stick with me.So went for a drift flicking so lures and soft plastics. Second cast on the plastic I felt a bump I was sure it was a small snag then it PULLED REEEEL HARD :074:

Nice fish mate :tease:

But seriously I don't understand why flatties go for something that's almost as big as them? I mean I understand if it was a fish with teeth that could rip a chunk out of its' prey but flathead have pretty crappy teeth...

Does anyone have an explanation?

Nice to see you getting out fishing the Georges, Stephen  it's good to see a tiny flathead like that hitting a lure and it goes to show that even the tiniest of flathead will jump onto anything moving along and especially a lure that swims like a mangrove fry...

It's a case of the proverbial poodle grabbing your leg between it's teeth and trying to rip it off... How big is the poodle compared to you? Yet it still thinks it;s gonna have roast human leg for dinner.......

I wish I had taken a photo... But a few years ago I caught a flattie on a prawn, it was the size of my index finger, I couldn't work out why my 'bait' was moving while I was retrieving after not getting any bites...

Good report, nice fish... :1prop:

Cheers

Ben
