Gday Raiders!!!

About to head off to Daydream Island mid August with the missus…

I will charter a fishing trip, but mostly want to fish land base as well off Daydream Island while the missus soaks up the sun..

Been told I can only fish from the southern end of the island and it’s catch and release (no probs with that).

Would like to know the gear I should take there and what I could expect to catch/target?

Was just thinking of taking a 4kg 7ft graphite rod and daiwa series 2500 (8-10lb fireline), with lure pack (metals, SPs, hard bodies)…would this be enough?

Any other info would be great too…thanks in advance!!

Do yourself a favour. Give the activities desk a call and ask them about the fishing options. When I was there a few years ago one of the co ordinators was a mad keen fisherman and showed me a few of the better spots. A 7 foot rod would be OK. I don't think that I'd go any bigger. And book the charter boat that is based on the island itself. I think it was $300 for the day and if you are lucky you can get the boat to yourself.
