Jewdreamer
Had to work today but as soon as "Quittin Time!" rolled around... got to thinking about what a nice day and High tide right on dusk,,,,,, Clear water .., no recent rain.... SQUIDDIES! Oatley boat ramp is only 5 mins away, but my regular fishing buddy was uncontactable.... What to do.. Never taken the boat out solo...welll there's always the first time right... what could go wrong??? Then theres the other issue, my bloody dog is pestering the sh** out of me .. wants to go walkies! (he's a big galloot of a boxer). So I think ......whynot? 1st mistake! So I hitch up the boat with the dog still going beserk! He knows that when the boat gets hitched I'm outa there for hours so he's right in my face... I put the dog in the car, and head off for the ramp! On the way down hear some strange noises, I was using my van to tow the boat for the first time, so think nothing much of it. Get down to the ramp and the local fire brigade fellas are having a bit of a pump and spray practice there a couple of newbies with no idea how to launch their little tinny, theres 3 guys waiting to get their boats out... total poofight. So I wait and wait, and wait, and wait, ....take the Chester for a walk... boat ramps must smell pretty good cause he's dragging me from pillar to post.... Did I mention I waited??? Anyway, finally my first solo launch, check bungs for the third time , pump up the fuel bulb, unhttch the safety, take off the tie down strap, tie the mooring tope to the winch pillar, back down the ramp, push the boat in..........smooth as, feeling pretty smug for a first effort, rope pull the boat to the pontoon and tie it off, drive the car up from the ramp and this guy says,,,,,"hey mate .. you jockey wheel is down!" Yeah, not so friggin smug now eh? Fix it .. then spend 10 minutes trying to get my coward of a dog into the boat. Eventually get him calmed down, start the motor and off we go! I figured that the reef inside Cape Solander would have the warmest water so.. full speed ahead, all is going well except for the 33Kg chicken tryng to play the maltese terrier lapdog. Get to the reef, anchor up and its looking good, only bloody freezing as the sun is going down. Dog is shivering more than I am... and thats saying something! Now lets see... Big dog, 2 rods with baited hooks and me with my graphite rod and baitcaster reel and a yozuri squid jig.... what could go wrong.....?????? Well nothing actually, he sat on the floor and watched people walking their dogs in the park, I soaked the baits and cast the jig....again and again..working really slowly like all the sages said/// and finally i catch something a great big acute coryza! So i head back to the ramp, by this stage chester is sitting in the driver's seat and I am driving standing up... Bloody sightseer dog! I pull the boat with no incidents... except meet the guys who had been trying to launch their tinny.... forgot their bungs!!!!!! Told them not to worry too much, we all do it ONCE! Great experience, even if all I caught was A COLD! A bad days fishing is better than the best day sitting at home! Cheers Chris

Cheers Chris Apart from shivering for hours out on the water sorting out your heavyweight dog called Chester barking away and raising his leg every now and then, what was the actual game plan Chris? lol. It sounds like a dress rehearsal for the next Botany Bay session where the best action will come from people chasing runaway dogs in the park Anyway when we do get out to do that session Chris, I reckon bring Chester along and we might be able to spend a lot of time potty training him in between bites.
