Botany Bay

I took one of my mates out for the first time today, we call him Feral.

he turned up at my place late (7:30am) and we headed to the hole in the wall to fish between the bridges.

launched the boat without a drama and thats where the days normal run came to an end.

As this was the first time i launched from the hole in the wall i switched the sounder on to check my depth on the way out,....... Nothing it refused to work :1badmood: so i check the connections and they are all fine, so i try turning on the radio, running lights cabin lights and deck lights............nothing, all dead.

every switch on the panal had power running to them but not through them so some quick rewireing had the sounder and radio working.

ok lets go fishing!!

uneventful day with only 2 bream over legal size boated and blowing over 20kts so we decided to call it a day.

we got back to the ramp at a lowish tide and went to back the trailer down, nope!!!! brakes had seized on and refused to budge so after a bit of swearing i got the wheels moving and backed down the ramp. THUMP!!! before i had the trailer deep enough it fell off the end of the ramp.

ok i've had that happen before, no drama, load the boat up and try to leave the ramp.

nope she's stuck!! even with 2 blokes on the boot she wouldnt budge so i pushed the boat back off to let others retrieve their boats and it was still a struggle to get the trailer out. :1badmood:

i put Feral in the boat and told him to motor over to the other ramp and i would drive the trailer around to it (he cant tow anything) but the brakes wouldnt budge, the axle rockers had jammed up, locking the brakes on solid. :1badmood:

disconnected the brakes and headed to the other ramp, get there to find out Feral had left the winch handle at the other ramp :1badmood::1badmood:

to cut a very long story a bit shorter we eventually got the boat on the trailer at a very shallow ramp after jacking the axles and unjamming the rockers and headed home. TWO HOURS after getting to the ramp!!

Feral has now been baned from the boat as i'm sure he is bad luck on two legs, after i unpacked the boat and he had gone home i checked out the electrics, nothing wrong everything worked, checked the axles, all fine nothing wrong there either.

sorry for the rant but it's not everyday you find that 1 person that is your personal bad luck charm.

Wombat,

Now you know what boat ownership is all about :risata::risata:

If it's happened once, it'll happen again - bet your socks on it!

we have had a few boats before bluecod and yeah problems do happen but they rarely correct themselves after your mate goes home :biggrin2:

it was just one of those days where if it could go wrong it did.

at least i remembered the bungs

and it wont happen again , he's been barred :risata:

It pays to sort out anyone who is a jinx & plot against them :biggrin2: Being fore warned is fore armed & when you know about a person who is bad luck you can always have an excuse ready for when they ask to come fishing with you.

Best to leave them at home along with the bananas , priests & corpses as all are bad luck on a fishing vessel.

Better "luck" next time if ya get my drift. :1naughty::1naughty:
