Kirks
Hey Raiders I recently bought a Stradic 1000 and now I need a rod to suit. It needs to be in a length from 7foot to maybe 7'6. Also has to have a very light line rating say 2-4lb or 2-6lb, its a light line outfit used for breaming. Idea comes from a recent article in a fishing mag. Its a soft plastic, vibes, and hardbods outfit but mainly vibes and sp will be its main use. budget probs be around 200-350 maybe. Any ideas raiders would be very helpful. bass_beginner
mate for that price range yopu could look at a pfleuger medallist, a lox , or definately look at the nitro powerbream finesse however if you wanna step up in price range have a look at a drop shot from gloomis all good options all will do the job however my preferred 2 would be the lox or the nitro powerbream finnese
jewgaffer
Kirkby you study tackle a lot and seem to be able to chose and buy some pretty classy stuff for a young bloke these days... If you want a good rod for your little 1000 reel, take a look at a 7w Fenwick fly/spin rod....That rod will allow you flick unweighted baits and will also get you used to casting tiny little poppers which no doubt you'd be considering and also is a great rod for fresh and saltwater fly fishing if you match a BFR for British fly reel to the Fenwick later.... Anyway I have a that combo fly/spin Fenwick myself and intend using the Fenwick exclusively on 10lb braid for bream and flathead, and whenever I use the electric motor that I'm going to buy in the near future.... Blood Knot
Steve As breamhunter suggest the 7'6" infeet is a nice rod for the money. May be have a look at the Loomis SR842-2 GL-3 7' 2-4kg Spin. Had one for six years with 1000 Stradic on it and still a go too outfit. Will cost a bit more though. John

gretsch
Kirkby, One of the hardest things with those little 1000 size reels is to find a grip set up which is in scale with the reel. Often, they look and feel too small on the rod. Have you seen the Rack Raider? Or, if you are willing to part with some more dough (about $500) you can get a Miller Bream Buster which are very nice with a 1000 (I have one matched to a 1000 Stella). Let us know how you end up. Hooked-Up
Steve how r ya young fella... Have a good look at the Nitro Rods range by Innovator. the 7ft Power bream sounds like what you need, although personally i think the length of rod ur after wont match too well with the 100 sized reel u have. for that sized reel i would recomend the Vapor, a 6ft little gem. Wieghs sumthing ridiculous, 17grams or 30 grams seems to be jumping into my memory, its a 1-2kg rod, check out the specs online. They are like a loomis rods at half the price a similar lifetime warranty deal. Musty 65 grams on the vapor Musty, bloody light rods, Kirkby the vapors nice i have the 6 foot model matched to a 1000 luvias, id like another one in the 7 foot too, then i found some rods which are pretty much the same and theyre longest goes to 7'6 they cost less $250 and also have the warranty like nitro, problem is i cant remember who makes them or what theyre called, i look into it if you want me to, send PM mate. abecedarian
One thing you might want to consider when going for a light rod is how big the line guides are. It's something that's easy to overlook (I know I have) but can really impact on the castability of the rod. I've got a new lox rod that I have to be a fair bit more careful with than my old raider, where I could tie a messy double uni know with 20lb leader and have no worries. Couldn't do that with the lox... It's the 7'6'' 1-3 kg model matched to a stradic 1000 and is a truly beautiful rod with light setups. But because the guides are quite small I find the leader knot will catch a bit in the guides with 6lb line if the knot isn't perfect, and that's using a slim beauty with 2lb crystal on the spool. If you're fishing with leaders any stronger than 6lb with this rod there might be a few problems. But if you're careful with how you tie a knot and aren't looking to use heavy leaders it's an awesome rod and I love it! It casts like a dream, handles fish well and is quite reasonably priced too . 65 grams on the vapor Musty, bloody light rods, Kirkby the vapors nice i have the 6 foot model matched to a 1000 luvias, id like another one in the 7 foot too, then i found some rods which are pretty much the same and theyre longest goes to 7'6 they cost less $250 and also have the warranty like nitro, problem is i cant remember who makes them or what theyre called, i look into it if you want me to, send PM mate. Was it a lox rod mate? They've only just released them, and only the 1-3 kg model in lengths from 6'6" to 7'6", although there's supposed to be more sizes on the way... Apparently they come from the same factory as the nitro branded stuff and have the same warranty (lifetime section replacement for $50 no questions asked), and cost from about $170 - $250 depending on where you look...
