fisherman1994
Hi Raiders, My dad, myself and a mate of mine are planning a trip outside to long reef and maybe a run out to browns or the FAD if weather permits. We have a fair load of pillies but are really keen to catch some fresh, live bait i.e squid slimies yakkas etc. Would any kind raiders be able to share their secrets on the best places around sydney harbour to catch these? Also the best method and prefererd time of day. We would be launching from little manly boat ramp at about 5:30 - 6:00am. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Cheers, James

Piss'n'Broke
You can always pick up yakkas and possibly a squid at Balmoral. Berley up for your yakkas and if they dont turn up within 15minutes they arent there and you need to try other locations. Dan
jim77
Hey James - plenty of squid around in the harbour at the moment. Just try the usual spots around the kelp beds (Shark Island, Middle Head, Quarantine etc etc). Bigger jigs (3.0 - 4.0) in the slightly deeper water and you will probably find some bigger ones. If you can't get them anywhere else Yakkas nearly always at Balmoral - just got to get through the sweep to get them! Just one thing about your plans.... You know the FADs aren;t there in winter right? Don't spend too long looking for them as they won't be back in the water until about October/November! Long Reef is still there tho
