Port Hacking

Hit the water around 7.30 pm Sunday night.

Hit our usuals spot on the sand bar on the entrance to south west arms as we usually do alright with the flatties here, all we manage were 2 rays, 2 catfish,1 stonefish and a small bream so we decide to head down to gunamatta bayand try our luck near the moorings and almost straight away we hooked on to a nice bream and then another and we start thinking this is more lilke it.

Things go a bit quite at about 2am so we bait up the rods and try to catch a couple of zzz's then bang one of the rods takes off across the boat and luckily the reel catches on the bow rail and up comes another big ray

I just dozed off when I hear this buzzzzz noise, jumping up thinking it's the drag going off I find it's corey unzipping the bimini and telling me where moving and I look up to see we're abou 500m up the bay from where we were. No problem I think I 'll just let out some more anchor rope and see if she catches as I'm doing this I hear the engine crank, I yell to corey to cut it as the keep net and two rods are out the back. Too late bothe my lines are now around the prop.

I chuck out the second anchor and that slows us down a little but the wind is still blowing us towards the moorings and I start about untagling the lines from the prop.

I get this done and pull up the anchors and tell corey to start up the boat. FLAT BATTERY we had left the interior lights on and it had drained it so the anchors go back out stopping us only about 3' from a moored yaht. it was now about 3.45am and it was not until about 8.30 that the coast guard got out to give us a jump and to top it off the fish had gone off the bite.

I then look for my mobile this morning and recall the last place I seen it was on the dash of the boat when we were putting it on the trailer so I try to ring it and it says this number is unable to recieve calls so I'm thinking she may have hit the highway on the jouney home, will have one last look tonight before I tell the boss I've lost the company mobile

doesnt sounds like a very productive night. sorry to hear that.

better luck next time. seems like a few people have had pobs over the weekend

Forgot to ask, what lures were working on the bream at 2 in the morning?
