bagga
I've heard you don't jig them but just let them sit about a metre off the bottom. Is that how you work them?
framedtrash
I've heard you don't jig them but just let them sit about a metre off the bottom. Is that how you work them? depends how lazy u r the ideal way to use them is to drop them to the bottom let them rest for a few seconds then slowly wind it up about 10m off the bottom if you get no hits drop it back down and repeat if you get bites dont strike just keep slowly winding it in the fish will hook itself but if your lazy or you have a few rods out just drop the jig down but it about 2-3 meters off the bottom and stick it in your rod holder and just wait for your rod to buckle or just check your sounder and drop the jigg into the strike zone and leave it there these jiggs are great only problem is that the skirts are easily damaged and jackets love them they are replaceable at about $4 a set it can get pretty pricey pretty quickly i only use them now when im 99.9% certain there are not jackets around so yeh i havnt used them since i got these last kings bring on summmer
Jiggy
I've had mixed success with them. A few rat kings, tons of sargent baker (I am the SB guru ) and a few nice flathead. More interestingly I've had some fairly major wipe outs. Some were kings but others I'm not sure; lots of headshakes then I get buried. The way I use them is how they show on the Shimano site; reel them up slowly then drop them back down. The biggest problem with them is leather jackets! If they are around I keep them in the tackle box and the last few months they are ALWAYS around . Cheers Jiggy
woodch0p
Hey just curious to what colour jigs worked for you, I have the pink and also white/cream coloured ones as they looked the best but haven't had much success with them, but I also haven't used them much. bagga
thanks for all the info lads. I'll give them a go. They entice a range of fish it seems. I reckon snapper might like them as well.
