harrishobbies
WELL I went for a walk up the the gosford Railway dams yesterday just for a look , spoke to the fishing inspectors about the restocking both had 2000+ bass and eels put in around 2001 /2002 . he was right the water is very cold this time of year and the fish will be off the bite , but it was a good time testing the new bait caster and spinners , A good view and mates to chat with , the walk in and out was a challange but only 20 mins will keep on it and make a good trail for all .. Leigh You are not allowed to target Bass or Eps this time of the year. Did the inspector mention that as well? I hope he did.

It is legal to target those species, as discussed in the following post Bass and EP season closure Hodgey
Mercer007
Raiders, The season closure ONLY applies to river systems. You can still target these species in dams, which would mean that Harrishobbies was well within the law to target Bass in a dam. I rang the DPI and they confirmed this for me. Harrishobbies, I'll see you at the dam mate. Cheers Peter
smoked1
I stand corrected. Shows how clear these laws are with everyone having to contact DPI for clarification. Either way my "personal" view is to leave them in peace to breed. Its just a few months. I love catching and eating squid but I self imposed a ban on catching Southern Calamari for a few months because all of the 4 squid in my last trip all had eggs. The ban can only do good for furture stocks.

stevie
Bass dont breed in dams there stocked. Bass need to be able to get to brackish water to their thing eg rivers that lead to the sea. cheers Steve
