Catchin Jack
The Woronora isn't a very big system and isnt very deep with few large deep holes and just the one main channel going in from the mouth at Como up to the "Needles" at the end. Plenty of sandflat areas aswell as oytser encrusted shoreline worth flicking hardbody's around for and a few bridges with the pylons maybe worth a shot. Last summer was the 1st time i gave it some proper sessions and managed to take home flathead and sum decent bream although being such a tight system, you need to have your patience with the many non law abiding boaties who will fly past you in the tight channel doing 20knots in 8 knot zones and the clowns towing tubes and boards around in the upper reaches. Winter mighten be so bad but with that comes the shutdown of fish activity generally so its a bit of a catch 22. On the upside Maritime does patrol the river quite a bit. You can launch your tinnie or a yak at the park and boat ramp opposite the Woronora rural fire service post, pretty much directly under the Bangor by-pass bridge. Its a good spot to fish but i prefer it in the warmer months. Just look for drop offs, rocky shorlines or deeper holes. Goodluck, let us know how you go Musty Plastics and vibes around old bridge, flicking at private pontoons is also good for bream, walk bridge is usually good for flatties. The odd jewie can be found also. Used to fish the wonnie all the time until i moved up central coast, always came home with a feed, after EP spawning season there's also a few of them in upper river. docfitz
You can also launch your kayak in the creek at Prince Edward Park if you are heading upstream - it's very nice once you get up past the houses but as Musty said, boat traffic can be an issue. Only had one serious go up there last year for no result (we brought a double Kayak primarily for excercise but I did manage to get rod holders included). When I get a chance I would like to try further downstream near Bonnet Bay soccer oval - on the flats on the other side of the channel.
