david88
Hey guys, i recently purchased my first boat and now i need to get a license. a simple search in google results in a number of boat license places. I have no experience in the matter and i just assumed there was one boat license like a driver license. i would really appreciate if someone could outline to me the steps necessary for obtaining a boat license as cheap as possible because all im seeing on these websites is "give us money". I live in balmain so if anybody knows any place relatively close it would be greatly appreciated. also is there some sort of concession rate for fulltime students? Cheers guys, thanks heaps. jason baker
I don't know how much boating you have done but when I got my license I did a one day course with on of the boating colleges. Can't remember if it went a full or half day. Goes through all the rules, then you do your test which you are a shoe in to pass because they go over everything well and highlight things you may need to remember especially well. The you hit the water and spend time going through some basic things. Having a drive and some safety, how to land and get on a mooring when it is windy that sort of jazz. Some of the stuff is simple but if you don't know it you would take a long time to figure it out yourself. I would recommend it. A pretty sure fire way to get your license and probably pick up a few new skills too. Cheers.

Captain Spanner
[WHAT ARE THE BUNGS USED FOR ? The primary purpose of a Bung is to stop your ugg boots getting wet. If Bungs are remembered and used correctly prior to launching the boat there is often significantly less course language during the first half hour of the expedition than if they are remembered after launching the boat. Mate, basically most trailer boats have small holes at the back to let the water drain out after you take the boat out of the water. The "Bungs" are the little plugs that you put in these holes to stop the water getting in when you have the boat in the water. If you forget to put your bungs in, your boat normally fills up with water and can sink. Edited August 21, 2009 by Captain Spanner
