Ray R
G'day Raiders, Hutcho and I worked the Brissy Waters today and found things pretty tough, firstly we pumped some nippers and mate the water around the feet and old ankles was very cold, took us a while to get some feeeling back into the feet. Anyway we started drifting for whiting around the sand flats between Wagstaffe and Ettalong, we found none but did get a couple of small flatties. So we decided to give Paddys Channel a go, we started at the Rileys Island end and drifted to the Woy Woy end, it was at the top end that we found a couple of fish but not the whiting we were chasing, all the time we were drifting we were searching out potential fish holding drop-offs and gutters but they just didn't seem to be around today. Then we went around to the Woy Woy Channel and Hutch finally found a whiting to take his offerings, it was a huge 15cm baby maybe this is the ground we had been searching for. Not to be , we scored a couple more small fellas and that was it. So we start up and head around to St Huberts, same story small stuff again, bugger this we thought lets go back to where we started maybe things had changed with the rising tide, this was the final straw no whiting but a heap of juvi snapper, so we played with these for a while and called it a day. So for a lot of hard work we ended up with a 34cm bream and 42 cm flattie and a heap of small bits & pieces, twas a great day on the water a bit chilly in the morning but very calm and pleasent. So that was our day hope The other Raiders out there enjoyed thier day..

jewiehaven
Great report Ray, as usual you have put up a fine selection of photos to match. Shame about the fishing- me and few mates fished out usual Jew and Bream spot from 11pm until 5am for NUTHIN!- not even a bite We used fresh yakkas, squid, mullet strips and some mullet gut, + me and mate Dave threw around a few placcies for ony a few very timid takes in less than 1m of water insude the wharf. Seems most people are doing it tough too Next time you want Whiting you should head up Narara Creek behind Maccas @ West Godford and further up behind the Gosford Golf Course- the area fished well with nippers and blood worms By-catches will include Jew, Trevs and Luderick On a side note- Maybe its time to get back to what I know best- beach Fishing in Broken Bay. Will be hitting up there probably next weekend or weekend after, unless I can get up to Narara Creek myself and head LB but its pretty hard to get in and out without a tinnie. Better luck next time mate

james7
I always like finding a post by you Ray whether you've caught a boat-load or not. Brilliant photos! You managed a couple of good fish on what looked like a beautiful day to be on the water. Doesn't get much better than that! Love the close-up photos. That bream shot belongs in "Toothy Critters". Cheers Peter

Hutcho1
Mondo, Thanks for another great day on the water. The conditions were fantastic but the fish wouldn't come out and play. Mate, my feet are still cold that was unbelievable and I won't being doing that again without gumboots or something. It is very difficult catching a feed at this time of the year but September is my favourite time for chucking plastics at the flat fellows so bring on Spring. I will spend the weekend detailing the boat ready to put on the net for sale. Yes, it is time to UPGRADE. Of course we will still have to go for a fish but I may have to ban the bait. Regards, Hutcho
