Catchin Jack
Some people need to think of others fishing before putting their boats in the line of fire of metal spinners etc. Sorry for the edit but some may have taken the original post to personal. Happy fishing raiders. Cheers, Leo Edited August 12, 2009 by Fezza
GregL
I hear what you are saying and I do hate other boaters that drive threw schools. The boaters leave the water for you guys next to the rocks for you to fish, maybe you should leave the water in the middle of the bay for them...... Remeber theres a whole ocean to fish! lol Do people own the water? Me thinks not. Does a guy that pays for a boat, costs to register and have it on the water have more rights to use it than people that don't pay anything and just rock up and cast a line in from the bank? Don't think so! There are many ways to look at the story but in the end it all comes down to common sense and courteous behaviours. Casting sinkers at boats starts wars, you guys would hate it if boaters start casting 65gm raiders at you guys and I recon boaters have bigger tackle bags than you guys..... Maybe next time draw up a banner asking them nicely to leave enough room for you guys, like the ones they have at the cricket, might give everyone a laugh and it might get the message across Greg
cat-as-trophy
Its great to put your feelings across, but just remember we are all here for the common good and that is fishing. Lets not turn this into a landbased versus boatie debate. This topic will be monitored, and if it gets out of hand will be closed. Whether you are land based or on the water, remember to be mindful of fellow fishos, that way we can all live happily together. fisherman1994
yeah mate i do see where you're coming from but i do think that throwing sinkers and metals at boats is a little bit over the top, like other raiders have said it is just provoking an incident. I hope that any boaties who see this will be more courteous next time they see land based fishos but in the end it does just come down to common sense. If a land based fisho is throwing right out into the middle of Salts Bay in Swansea(I do know where this is ive caught big salmon there before) then where is the boatie supposed to go?? Its no good starting a war between boaties and land-based anglers so i guess we will all have to just learn to fish with each other around. fishy
I fish both regularly. There is certain areas boats really need to pay attention too. Particularly a well known spot on the mid north coast. The amount of solid fish that I have seen cut off by boats there is rediculous. Not happened to me yet but got lucky two seasons ago with a boat on the troll 300m off the ledge pulling up only a metre or two of my fish after everyone yelling and whistling for over 5mins. Happy ending on that one, seen plenty lost but.
Yeeros
I fish both regularly. There is certain areas boats really need to pay attention too. Particularly a well known spot on the mid north coast. The amount of solid fish that I have seen cut off by boats there is rediculous. Not happened to me yet but got lucky two seasons ago with a boat on the troll 300m off the ledge pulling up only a metre or two of my fish after everyone yelling and whistling for over 5mins. Happy ending on that one, seen plenty lost but. Ive seen 2 marlin lost to boats down south, ive had my drift run over once from boats, one of them the boat was no B.S 6m from the rocks! Ive had 2 mates lose 200m of line on big tuna drift due to blind boaties that couldn't see a 2ft diameter orange balloon 30m away from them! This then means they have to re-spool a 50W reel, $100, thanks heaps mr boatie! My opinion is if you come within range and i cast a raider over your spread and hook your lures and i accidently cut them off then thats just bad luck. If you walk out to me and ask nicely to see what we go through doing LBG i might give them back to you. You have the whole ocean in a boat, we have 200m square and maybe 1km if we hook up once a season! Nobody wants a war but be curtious, its very difficult when you have had no sleep keeping bait alive all night, been sleeping on a rock for a week, not had a shower, dealing with mozzies every night, lack of food, not much water, sunburn and some boat rocks up and drives over your drift that has taken you 1hr to get it where you want it! If you don't beleive what we go through on the rocks to get good fish then put your boots on, do some walking and come and have a look. Be considerate, i won't cast all the way to browns when the marlin are on, let the landbased guys have the 1km bit close to shore!
