Hi All,

I just got back from a family holiday to Port Douglas. Great time to be there, weather is just perfect but unfortunately the fishing isnt great. This wasnt a fishing holiday but i did manage to convince the wife to let me take a half day charter.

We spent ALL DAY casting poppers and live baits for not much at all.

2 GT's not worth photographing and cod. Oh well thats fishing.

The Daintree is a beautiful place and being there was a privilege in itself.

ILL BE BACK FOR THE BARRA!

hey mate,

Jamie is a legend hey? Such a top bloke. Pity he couldnt out you on to any decent fish...such a beautiful place over there!

Mike

He was a really nice guy indeed. Local knowledge and he knew a lot about the area. apparently he was first on the scene when that 5 year old boy was taken by a croc last year. Devastating story!

I also went out with Jamie back in May with a mate.

Caught nothing on the big poppers near snapper island but we were lucky enough to pick up a couple of spaniards and a golden trevally on live bait. Missed a couple more spaniards trolling large hard bodies.

Jamie's a top bloke.

Shame you didnt catch anything decent while up there.

Better luck next time

Marty

Yeah that was a terrible thing, a mate and I were actually out with him the day before the croc took that poor kid, we did no good that day but the river was ina mighty flood so too much fresh water around.

We actually stopped out the front of the river train on the way back were the kid was taken and Jamie commented that he would not even go up on the bank at that time with all the crocs that had been washed down in the floods. The next day we went acrross the punt just as the first boats hit the water in search of the boy, such a terrible thing.

And to think that the boys father still takes tourists in the river train to look at crocs! how can he possibly be doing that still. Poor bugger!

I've been out with Jaimie as well - got a nice barra, a few queenies and wolf herring all on livebait.. top bloke.

Small community up there - to have a local's child taken would have rattled the lot of them I reckon. Very sad story..

It is a great place.

i lived in cairns and have fished the daintree a few times, and didn't have much luck, even with all the tips from the pro's i gathered while working in the industry.

as beautiful as the daintree is, that place has a vex on me.

another really good guide in fnq is jason swan. the way he knows fishing is amazing (not taking anything away from jamie of course).
