ORES Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I know it was a very poor day on the almanac today but today was a joke Nothing at all but 3 pesky leather jackets and some a#* hole nocked off with our safety shackel and almost our winch handle on our trailer.(probably realised it didnt fit his winch). We troled almost the whole lot, tunks to weddingcake and back. Nada Any way better than working. and a few later made for a better day.
pelican Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Is there an online almanac for Sydney or East Coast? There is a lots of thieving going on at the minute and it looks organised so beware. Doesn't matter if boat is on the water or at your house the scumbags are about. I just can't work out what they do with the stuff if they aren't stealing to order as they have been taking motor parts and safety, , trailer, navigation equipment. Hope everyone can keep an eye out for them and report anything suspicious or ask what the #$%^they are up to to disturb em. Honest people will have no problem having a chat ut thieves will make up all sorts of stories. Police are aware and hopefully looking out a bit more but most people don't report anything so if it doesn't show up on the numbers they can't spend time on it. They are doing over moored boats both day and night all over Sydney again. Can only guess stuff is going interstate No penalty is enough
Piss'n'Broke Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) My suggestion, is to pick up a small CCTV camera about the size of a packet of smokes, mount it in your car or boot of your car through a peep hole attached to a small hard drive . This will solve alot of your problems! Nothing like having a picture to match to a face. Karma Dan Edited August 13, 2009 by Dan and Greg
cat-as-trophy Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Maybe now they have the full collection and will stop, although, next time it may be a full boat or full trailer. Stay vigilant raiders. At least something is better than nothing, and remember that big one is just around the corner. Cheers Mrs Flightmanager

zen801 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 G"day, Sorry to hear about idiots messing with your stuff. A mate told me he recently he lost a wheel from his trailer while driving home. He reckons someone loosened his wheel nuts deleiberatly or was disturbed whilst trying to steal his wheel. I am now giving my trailer a quick visual before heading home. MH has been very quiet for some time now. We did an arvo into evening last week. Only managed yakkas and slimies again but this time not takers on livies or strip bait. Not even a stinking eel. Squid at the Spit on the night didnt want to play ball either. August is the worst month by far in MH. Should start to wake up sept/oct. Cheers
humkyle Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 there was an article in the local paper the other day about how outboard thefts etc were increasing dramatically... dont take any chances, secure everything! HK
pelican Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 (edited) Even if you don't do a whole formal report please just spend 5 minutes and call the local cop station and tell them that thieves are working the ramps and bays as otherwise they don't know. They will hopefully ask a car to specifically drive past now and again and at least be seen about. It isn't kids as it is happening in school hours and after midnight in my case. Saw a spare on a trailer the other day hanging by the padlock and the bloke said someone had removed the nuts before they saw the padlock or maybe they were after the whole bracket - that was daylight as well. The wheel stealing or letting tyres down at ramps in QLD was a ploy to get the people to unhitch the trailer locked to the car and then when the owner went to go get a new wheel they would simply put wheel back on, pump it up and steal trailer , electrics, safety gear from unattended boat or whole boat and trailer package. Have a good look at who is about and leave someone at ramp. I would seriously pay a old bloke to just sit at a ramp and watch the cars as over the years between mates we have had windows, wheels , , mud guards?? they left one of their old one for us haha ?? winch, tools , rollers and lights. Can't believe they risk a criminal record for $20-100 but I guess they know they are unlikely to get caught. Cameras would be a nice deterrant and would stop some of the other hoon activities around ramps and people might be a bit more courteous late at night with noise etc. Can't rely on cameras working and there is always blind spots. The boat and trailer belongs to my mate but with mine, when i get one, I might put locknuts and crimped roller pins so the have to grind them off to steal the rollers. Stolen rollers would stuff you right up hai? Regards to the slimies.. I havnt cought slimies in middle harbour since 2005!!! Where did you buerly out for them, if you dont mind me asking, there fun fish to catch and good jewie bate as well. You can PM me if you like.
