TunaSickle
Hello all, I'm going to install my fish finder tomorrow. To bolt the head unit to my aluminium tinnie I'm assuming I need to use stainless steel bolts and nuts. Just wondering if this is correct and will they react with the aluminium and corrode? Any tips would be great. thanks Ash
Blood Knot
Hi Ash - You are right they will react Get a tube of Duralac and coat the screw threads and sides of the nuts & screw heads that will be in contact with the aluminium material of your boat, put plenty in the hole the screw goes through and the same for self taping screws if you are using them. Use 316 Stainless screws & nuts, washers should be either 316 stainless or nylon. This should help prevent the electrolysis from getting started. Nylon washers are great if you can get some as well. If you have Sikaflex it can be used, but not as good as duralac. John
