GeeOne Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Hello Raiders, This is my 1st posting after a beautiful day on the water. Fished the southern entrance of the Manning river this morning under pristine conditions. Got the Yak out from under the house and was in the mood for a morning of fishing. Fifteen k's of paddling and a couple of hundred casts i got NADA. I saw plenty of big lizards scurry away on the flats and a lot of lays. Hopefully a sign of a busy summer of flat head fishing. Happy to be alive. GeeOne

GeeOne Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 Thanks for the replies Raiders, i'm heading off on holidays this week. Taking the family for a camping/fishing bash at Crowdy National park. Hopefully my luck will improve. Sill no luck in the rivers around home! I hope to have some better news on my return. Tight lines everyone.
fisherman1994 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 It's great to get out for a paddle even when the fish arent biting anyway. Cheers, JB

Tight lines everyone. mate Crowdy is a great place go go and relax, and dangle a line Take a long beach rod and go grab some live beach worms- the area from the rutile mines back to diamond head have produced very, very nice Bream, Whiting and Jew for me in the past. I used to go to Harrington every holiday when I was very young up till I was about 17- every holiday a day never past when I didnt go fishing- and take some at least a few fish. if all else fails you can fish near the cleaning tables at Harrington or out the back of the pub for Flatties, bream, Flounder and Jew- and if you are very lucky you can see the spotted mackerel heading in and they sit just in front of the gantry where the river fills in back in the mangroves- they sit there and feed on the choppers and herring that frequent the area. Good luck with the holiday mate and am lookin forwards to your future reports.
Young Gun Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Ah.. a day out on the water is a good day on its own, fish are a bonus. Well done YG
Richard Warren Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Probably a good thing you didn't get any fish. After paddeling for 15 ks and a million casts if you had to wind a fish in as well you might not have had the energy to get back. Have a good holiday and look forward to hearing about it.
