jlloyd
Wondering on some feedback on a squidding/ultralight setup I am putting together. I have a Penn 420ssg reel and a Berkley Dropshot IM6 2-4 kg rod that I want to combine. Wondering on whether I should go 4-6 lb (as the reel recommends) mono or get say 6/8/10 lb braid. I am tending towards the braid but as good braid costs as much as the reel I would like some recommendations as to the type and strength of braid. I have been using the rod with a cheap light weight reel (Shakespeare Inspinity) and love the direct feel and casting ability.

bass_beginner
mate imho id go for sunline super pe in 6lb its absolutely fantastic or failing that i think its called bass hard or sumthing like that all of my braided reels are spooled with those 2 and cant fault them the only variation ive made is on my 1-2 kg stick im running platypus sinking braid for when ur fishing superlightweight plasticws that lil bit of extra help keeping ion contact with the lure is an absolute godsend but yeh stick with sunline super pe or bass hard (its an orange colour) both from meory are around the 30 - 40 buck mark which is more than reasonable for the quality
WANNAFISH
As recommended by bass_beginner sunline is a very good choice or even nitlon or even the all reliable fireline is nice and cheap and most of the time resist wind knot if you are just starting to use these kinds of lines. Just buy those 120-150 mtrs as you wont use the whole lot like 300 mtrs and will save you money at the end. Just wind on some mono backing with possibly the same breaking strain or Ive found those surecatch mono or flouro are one of the thinnest in their class. I would go 6 lbs with braid or 4lbs minimum or 8lbs maximum. cheers
jlloyd
Thanks for the info, will go the braid option, probably 8lb braid so I can put more force on when the jig gets caught on weed etc
