Machine_Head
G'day Fellow Fish Raiders Long time follower but first time poster. Went to Fiji ( Mana Island ) with the new wife on our honeymoon and there was no way I was going to Fiji without having a Fish. Met up with one of the locals from the village who took the wife and I out for a few hours on the water. The weather was great and the visibility of the water was amazing. ( Guessing 15 - 20 Meters ). With in an hour of trolling we managed 4 decent Mack's. With the long boat stopped and bringing in one of the Mack's the over head started screaming. The largest of the Mack's hitting a floating dead lure. What can I say but 15 minutes of pure adrenalin and aching forearms a 15kg Spanish Mackerel was landed. The fish was foul hooked at the tail, so it was an extremely tough fish to bring in. All the Mack's where caught in 2 hours. The 2nd day we went again for a couple of hours. This time we saw the birds diving and the water getting chopped up. Called it for a school of tuna and we were right. Only problem was the school moved so bloody quick by time we got to them they had moved position again. Ended up landing 3 Mack Tuna's, a bloody big Travelly ( not a GT unfortunately ) and a big bird with a wing span of well over a meter. ( bird was released un harmed ). All i can say is I'm now hook on fishing in Fiji and am already planning a fishing trip back there. If I can catch that many fish in 4 hours imagine what and how many I can catch over a week dedicated to fishing and not my wife and our honeymoon. eagle ray
I Love a tail hooked fish. Though a 15 kg mack is better than a 150 kg blue.
