locodave Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Had a look at my wheels on the trailer the other day, this is what I found. DESTONE D-100 5.0-10 8 PLY Wheel 10x35 8 Has 5 studs, and from centre to centre it measure 6.5cm What is the 5.0-8 PLY ? I'm assuming the wheel is 10inches but what is the "35 8" mean? Thanks

Thanks 5.0-10 8ply 5.0 is the width, 10 is the rim diameter to fit, 8 ply is the tyre construction the 6.5 cm from stud to stud means it is an early holden pattern ie up to HT also same as torana Edited September 2, 2009 by dangles
locodave Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 Thanks for your reply! Do you know what the 10x35 8 means? Why is there a space after the '35'? Thanks!
BFB Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Thanks for your reply! Do you know what the 10x35 8 means? Why is there a space after the '35'? Thanks! The 10 means the tyre fits a 10 inch wheel. The 35 is the percentage of tyre tread width compared to the tyre height. If the tyre height was 200mm the width of the tread would be 70mm. The 8 means an 8 ply tyre. The plies are the number of steel or canvas plies put together to make up the tyre. Normally an 8 ply tire is a heavier duty tyre (able to handle more weight) compared to a 6 ply tire.
