Ray R
Hi Raiders, I went down for a quick fish this arvo about 4:30, a noreaster was blowing but it wasn't too strong, still okay to fish, anyway I caught a big salmon and boy he pulled hard, broad sided me in the break and he was hard to budge, a good fight and I eventually got him up the beach. Then I caught 2 bream which was a surprise as I hadn't caught one for a while, kept the bigger one he was 34cm's. Out went another pilly tail and got smashed by a small flathead, not quite big enough for me so I returned the little fella. I had had enough now , hungry and cool so I had one last cast, waited for a few mins and then Whammo ! the pilly tail was taken by another big salmon, he fought like a train, I tell ya these things know how to use the surf to their advantage, a short time after he was on the beach, hooks extracted and he was on his way. So that was my arvo/evening at Avoca, a lot of fun and a fish for my beloved (Karen) she loves bream. A Toothy Bream... Thanks to the young mum for taking this shot of me and bream Hey PeterS look no sand on the salmon (my foot is about 30cm)

Michael Hatte
Nice work ray, you gotta love a late afternoon fish... Top close up shot of that bream's mouth!!! Its amazing when you compare an ocean fish to a river fish, most of the river fish i find have teeth completly worn down.... Keep the sambo's coming!!!! james7
Onya Ray! You and Peter (Mercer007) certainly have the salmon situation sorted at Avoca. They're a good size alright and fighting them in the surf is different to a boat. (Much more fun!) Excellent photos. I love the toothy bream shot and a "clean salmon" is good to see for a change. It's also a top photo of you too with the beach in the background. Like Slinky says, that gutter looks great. Excellent report! Cheers Peter

jewgaffer
Hi Raiders, I went down for a quick fish this arvo about 4:30........ Nice little Avoca session Ray and a nice 34cms take home bream for Karen, my Shirley prefers eating freshly caught bream over anything else these days and particularly a nice fat beach bream .....Looks like you've got a top camera in that one Ray and that's a really nice portrait photo the lady bystander took of yourself with the background scenery and everything looks nicely focussed and natural.....By the way Ray, the only suggestion I would make would be to add some packing to the sides of your hat, but don't overdue it mate, too much packing at the sides of your hat would look like you're about to give your regular bystanders some good beach fishing tips followed by a beach cooking lesson on video Cheers jewgaffer
