Lures For Glenbawn Dam

I have been offered the opportunity to fish at Glenbawn Dam later this month. Have not been there nor done any impoundment fishing for bass and only a little for golden perch. Was wondering if any raiders have fished there and if so if they would mind letting me know what lures I should be taking with me. We will troll the deeper areas and throw both hardbodies and soft plastics around the timber and rocky banks. Any information will be gratefully received.

Cheers

Gdayyyyyyyyy Kel,

I am a bit of an old hand at Glenbawn and there are only a few lures that will produce for you that are esssential.

Spinnerbaits in 1/4 to 3/8th oz in purple with gold or silver twin blades and stinger hooks added.

Spinnerbaits in the fluro /lumo colours that glow when light is added for just on dark and very early morning.

Jackels in ttn 50 or 60 in the phantom colours.

Any popper with a bit of size and able to cast about 25 mtrs will work early and late, dark colours.

Structure is all you need and there is heaps of trees and fish any points as well.

12 to 16 feet is the best water depth and you will be in business.

Dam capacity is at 75% atm and should be great for a fish,we will be there in November again for our 14th yr straight :biggrin2:

Check out last yrs trip :yahoo:

Hi Kel

I've found soft plastics can be effective up there as well as hard bodies and spinnerbaits.

Try drifting around the dead trees snags etc and jig soft plastics (around 50mm size) as if you're

jigging for kings but jig a lot slower.

Also try working the soft plastics and small hard bodies slowly above the weed beds. Even if there is only a

couple of feet of water over the weed beds.

Good luck and hope to see a good report
