Also where to buy one. Thanks Cheers Lowrance in my opinion have a great GPS/finder combo. I got a guy from BIAS to put a lowrance vs the Garmin combo (Garmin 450s) and whilst the Garmin did have a good GPS function, the finder wasnt as detailed as you would like. The Lowrance fishfinder was well detailed with a higher pixel rate. This is the Lowrance i ended up getting, HDS5. $1100 from the boatshow i think, maybe a bit less. cheers
Gorms,I checked out the Lowrance HDS 5 50/200 & the Raymarine A50D. I like the Lowrance. At Bias the price is $1299.00 + $99.00 for the nav card for your nav markers etc. The card is only this price if you buy their Lowrance. Did you buy the card. BCF have a special on the Lowrance untill the 25 of September .$1049.00 The card is $199.00 In total that is $150.00 cheaper. If I don't buy the card thats $250.00 cheaper. Thats a big differance. Thanks for informing me about the Lowrance. Cheers

Thanks for informing me about the Lowrance. Cheers Gday again. When i was looking at the HDS5, they were initally giving away a card with the unit, though it was higher in price i believe. When i purchased it, the were offering a card seperately for $200 or so to go with the unit, and the Navionics card which was $100 maybe per region, or the Gold card for $300. Well i was planning a trip up the coast to QLD so i ended up getting the Navionics Gold. Call around and try and get people to beat other peoples price. Im not sure where your based, but try Hunts Marine accessories department at Blakehurst. Tell them youve heard they are competitive with prices. Just one last thing, you will read people in forums say that they are never gonna buy Lowrance again, or that theirs broke, but the way i look at it, is there will be 100 people say they like theirs as to the one person who says they are rubbish. Its like saying all BMW cars are lemons cause one broke down. You will just have to look after the one you buy and hope your in the high % of good ones. good luck Gorms
cheers
Thanks Gorms. I'm now looking at spending the extra $$$ & buying the Lowrance HDS -7 with the bigger screen. It's not every day I update my fishfinder/GPS.
