Just wanting to know what is the best fish finder to buy at the moment

i have a very old lowerance and wanting to up date

I have had a look around but would like to know what most fisho use

any in put would be great

Yeah mate, whats your budget? As cut loose mentioned you will be looking at 1000+ for a very good one. But have in mind there are a few decent ones under that. Have a look around and get a few prices from various outlets.

My biggest concern is that i want to be able to id the type of bottom and the type of fish .
