flatty rock
Hey there guys Last month i fish New caledonia, fished there a few times and always come back with some good storys and some big fish..Lost of by catches like red bass, coral trout, spanish mackeral, yellowfisn, blue cod, mauri wrasse,etc...Missed 2 sailfish also.. Mainly used poppers from 150g to 200g,braid from PE10 to PE12.. I fished with a friend that lives there and fished from 4 diff boats of his...Some great conditions and spectacular water clarity.. Done some sight casting on the sand flats this time so there was some light tackle fun.. Some pics below Edited October 12, 2009 by flatty rock

GregL
Hey Nath What Ripple Fishers did you try and how did you rate them? I ended up getting a Fanta-stick GT79 PE10 for my lighter outfit. Casts beautifully but theres many casts between fish down off the rock wall here in Drummoyne! Had plenty of weird looks casting GT poppers into the Parra river Greg

Had plenty of weird looks casting GT poppers into the Parra river Greg Hey matey,my rods were mainly all Ripples,i used the GT79H rated to PE12,GT79R and GT78PF,i rate all 3 rods pretty high, lots of stopping power, the rods for just BIG GTs would be the GT79H rated PE12,something with a bit of tip would be the GT79R...@ 0f the rods i managed to get hold of befor i left.. The Fanta stick is pretty good mate, another is the infinity which they are dicontinuing, are you in the city often ???? Hey Nath, Sounds like you enjoyed your trip. Well done on some stonker GT's. You look a bit tired in those photos though, you need some more fitness Cheers, Andrew Mate 5 days flat chat popping,by thursday you start to feel it,first timers by monday 10am they start to feel it...I could popp non stop mate, its just my type of fishing, casting big chuggers all day.. Cheers mate Nice, Is that the south western tip of the big island?? I fished up north away from the south, gets hit to much down there,we had our own boat so we could fish any where besides marine parks..
