DarkHorse
G'Day Raiders! Hoping someone could recommend someone to custom make an ALLOY grab rail / bar to attach around my factory side console on a stacer Barra Elite. At the moment it only has a small plexiglass screen, which will easily be damaged. Tried the dealer and they couldnt get the alloy tube to bend sufficiently for a nice finnish. OTher option was to get the console of the larger Barra Pro, but alot of work involved. I want a "better than factory" look/finnish, not something that looks "tacked" on. I am not too sure if site sponsor "seriously stainless" does alloy tube or just stainless??? I do have something in mind, the picture is on the front of the latest stacer brochure, showing exactly what I am looking for. I will see if I can get a jpeg and attach to this post. Any help would be extremely grateful. Regards, Rob

DarkHorse
G'Day Gary, Sorry I wasnt too sure if you worked with alloy. As I said the dealer tried making something, but they didnt have a tube bending machine to get a good result. This is what I am after: actually the prototype of the console or finish I am after, production sees the bar directly welded to console. This is the console that I have with the perspex windscreen, to which I want to add the bar: Obviously as you mentioned best thing to do is bring up the boat and go from there. I can call you the next couple of days to arrange a time if that is ok? Cheers Rob
brickman
no problem rob not a big job to weld an al rail to the console we will have to sand the paint away at point off contact and i would ad a gusset maybe for added strength or we could do the rail in stainless witch would be a cheaper option as the stainless tube would not have to be as thick but it's your call we will go through all the options when you come down were open mon. to friday from 6.00am to 5.00 pm except fridays we knock off at 12.00 cheers gary

DarkHorse
Gary, Sorry I didnt get back to you regarding console. Not long after posting the dealer called and said that they had ordered the console in from stacer. It was fitted at the first 20 hour service. THANK YOU for your replies and help! Might need your expertise in making a spray cover over the transducers so that salt spray does not go everywhere! Here are some pictures:

jewgaffer
What a handy post Dark Horse for anyone who owns a console boat or is thinking of adding a custom made side console for example or a small centre console to an open boat. Tell you what Gary I've already signed up mate and with that session of ours coming up soon just bring your tape measure along .. I know exactly what I want after seeing this post and it will be a frame to incorporate a grab rail across the back with a plate on top to support say a collapsable or piviting all round light with perhaps a pivot that will hold the light pole at any position or better still perhaps fixed and angled back over my head for full 360 degrees light power to further light up the deck or whatever it takes to keep the light out of my eyes. The unit you design and make will also include the fittings for clear safety glass with rubber seal that you can sublet over the phone for me to pay if you like instead of having to put up with the tinted windscreen that came with the boat... Geoff knows my boat backwards, his input is now required for the ins and outs of the overall design, to add to the all round light ideas and to suggest an electrical connect to suit... Gary just for bringing your tape measure along George and I will pay for the arrows and it'll be all good from there on mate, no doubt about that and I know that after the unit is finished it will be another top shelf improvement from you for me to look forward to again... Good on you Gary Cheers mate jewgaffer Edited January 6, 2010 by jewgaffer
DarkHorse
sweet looking job on the grab rail the spray bracket will set you back a bottle of jd cheers gary Gary, Consider a bottle of JD yours! Now all I have to do is get it too you............... Here is my transducer post: http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=45505 As I said that console was supposed to be on the boat when I took delivery, but stacer didnt have any in stock at the time. Dealer ordered one anyway and it arrived not long after my original post, and was fitted on first service! I fitted the lexcen screen and stickers myself, as the cost from stacer for their version was a bit too steep Regards, Rob Edited January 6, 2010 by DarkHorse
